Pyschologists are professionals who can assess children (and adults) if there is a need to find out how their brain is functioning, particularly if it is noticeable that the person is not operating as would be expected for their age.
With regard to gifted children, there are often two areas of concern for parents; whether their behaviour is significantly different to that of their peers and what their intellectual ability or potenital is.
Fact Sheet P100 Educational Psychologists - Advice for Parents is available free in the Members' Area or for for non-members as a contibution towards NAGC's continued work.
|The British Psychological Society website http://www.bps.org.uk/ is the main website for searching for a psychologist in your area.|
NAGC cannot recommend an Educational Psychologist. The following psychologists have informed NAGC that they work with gifted children, but parents/carers should use Fact Sheet P100 to guide them in their search either in this list or on the BPS website.
