The next challenge in our 50 Challenges for 50 Years Anniversary Challenge Book series is set by Alex Bellos who writes a maths blog and a puzzle blog for the Guardian and frequently speaks on maths at conferences, festivals, in schools and in companies. His maths blog won the prize for Best Science Blog 2016 awarded by the Association of British Science Writers. Alex’s latest offering is a compendium of the world’s best puzzles, Can You Solve My Problems?
Alex’s offering is a number puzzle but it is also a date puzzle. Confused? You will be – unless you can get your mental muscles around this countdown equation!
One challenge from the book will be released here every few days. Look out for the next one soon!
Members can download the full 50 Challenges for 50 Years book free of charge (normally £7.50).
A hard copy of the full 50 Challenges for 50 Years is also available for £15.00 (including postage and packaging to UK addresses).
You can track your progress using the Challenge Chart. Once you’ve completed as many challenges as you can, send your chart and the answer to or result of the challenge you enjoyed the most to firstname.lastname@example.org and we’ll send you a certificate!
