This holiday camp is completely hands – on and project based throughout each day. Your children will be grouped and taught separately by ages/ability and will assisted during all experiments. All our teachers and Scientists and Science Communicators with enhanced DBS checks and safeguarding training in place. The workshops are fully risk assessed. Regular and accompanied breaks for refreshments and outdoor activities (weather permitting). Lunch/snacks need to be provided by the parents, due to the different dietary requirements (please note we do not allow any nuts, sesame or eggs in the room!)
Day one: Zoology, diversity of the animal wold. Classifications: Vertebrates and invertebrates. Skeletons vs Exoskeletons. Water Bears and other extremophiles. Jane Goodall, Dian Fossey and the great apes.
Day two: Palaeontology and dinosaurs. Should extinct species be brought back to life? How do animals grow? How do Birds Fly?
Day three: Animal Superpowers. Bats, Dolphins and echolocation. Bees, snakes, shrimps and their amazing vision. Octopuses and other masters of disguise
Day four: Puzzling platypuses. Fish and other animals of the sea. Fantastic insects and why they are important
