Do you have an avid reader or a budding author in the family? Have you ever wondered how books are written? Join us for a workshop with children’s author Ruth Eastham based around her novel, ‘The Messenger Bird’.

In this codebreaking thriller, Nathan’s dad has been arrested for breaking the Official Secrets Act, and to prove his innocence Nathan must embark on a dangerous mission, following intriguing secret clues which lead him to Bletchley Park…

Ruth will talk about the inspirations behind her book; a real-life World War 2 mystery; pigeons in peril; fascinating facts about the Enigma machine and why the Enigma code was thought to be unbreakable.

Participants can choose to book one of two workshops: either 10.00-12.30 or 14.00-16.30. Particularly aimed at 8-13 year olds accompanied by adults, sessions last 2.5 hours and include: a talk by the author with top tips on writing; a code-cracking game and creative writing challenge; a Q & A session.

Ruth will be available for book signing from 13.30 to 14.00 in the Bletchley Park shop.
