Mary – Claire King is one of the world’s leading geneticists. She is known for three major accomplishments: identifying breast cancer genes; demonstrating that humans and chimpanzees are 99% genetically identical and applying genomic sequencing to identity victims of human rights abuses. Join us at the Genetics Society’s Mendel Lecture to hear about her life and work.

Mary is Professor of Genome Sciences and of Medicine (Medical Genetics) at University of Washington. Her research group uses genetics and genomics to study informative families and populations in order to identify genes responsible for complex human conditions.

The doors will open at approximately 6.30pm, with a prompt start at 7pm.

This event will be filmed and on the Ri’s YouTube channel within a few months.
