This is a masterclass for very able mathematicians and ‘accompanying’ teachers. Weekly 40 minute session for six weeks.
The masterclasses will focus on challenging mathematical problem solving and deeper thinking and will give children the opportunity to construct and develop their own understanding of mathematics, making links and connections between concepts. Children will develop and enhance their ability to use their mathematical knowledge appropriately, flexibly and creatively and to apply it in new and unfamiliar situations.
The workshops will also provide a professional development opportunity for primary teachers as each school signing up 3 or more pupils will also be allocated a free place for a member of staff to observe and participate. Participating teachers and teaching assistants will be sent the resources at the end of each session.
Children will need: access to a computer with Zoom installed (this is a free resource and simple to download and install), a pencil, ruler, paper and ideally a whiteboard and pen (if they have access to the latter).
Once places are confirmed participating children or their schools will be sent an access code to log into the sessions.
Cost: £25 per pupil for six 40 minute sessions.
