We will be organising some engineering challenges for all ages (rough guide yr R+), with activities such as rubber band cars, train bridges and spaghetti towers. There will be an emphasis on problem solving and making solutions cost effective, as well as simply experimenting and having fun. Games, activity sheets and refreshments will be available in the family room as usual.
We will also be organising some biochemistry for the older group (rough guide yr 4+). This will involve looking at common organic molecules such as caffeine, aspirin and paracetamol. The children will use chromatography to analyse the molecules and determine contents of mixtures.
We will be holding our branch AGM during the session and will set up a meeting table in the hall so as many parents can join in discussions whilst still able to watch over their children. Whilst there is no pressure for anyone to join the committee, we would really welcome everybody’s input into the discussion of how the group will move forward and what activities we would like to plan in the future.
We will have our book swap/sale open, so please bring a book to swap or £1 to buy a book or magazine and help us raise vital funds for our group.
There is also a discount for family members of Potential Plus UK.
